After Care
After thinking multiple times about the designs you want for your tattoo and the pain you go through during tattoo process, you still have to be careful about the do and don’ts after tattoo. Since, tattoo is a life time body art or say permanent art on your body, you need to be very serious about the things you need to do before and after getting a tattoo.
Here, we will be discussing about the tattoo aftercare. Let’s start with the tattoo aftercare dos.
Listening to your Artist
After your tattoo is complete, your artist will cover your tattoo with a sterilized absorbing pad and a bandage. Artist will give a brief instruction on how to uncover and clean the tattoo at home.
Keep your tattoo clean
Keeping your tattoo clean is the most important task you need to be very careful about after your tattoo. You need to use a mild soap that can clean the tattooed area effectively and are gentle on the skin. After few days of being tattooed, you need to apply thin layer of ointment recommended by your artist. Also, we suggest you to keep your skin hydrated by applying a mild and non-scented cream or lotion after washing the tattooed area. Well hydrated skin is a healthy skin, which helps in healing faster.
Keep your tattoo exposed
After your tattoo session, keep the bandage on for about three hours or as directed by your artist. After you have removed the initial bandage, you need to keep your tattoo exposed for quick healing. Also make sure to wear loose fitting in order to prevent the fabric from pressing against your tattooed skin.
Since, a fresh tattoo is like a wound, you must treat it gently. Scratching, exfoliating, scrubbing on the skin may cause infection or bleeding as well. So, make sure to clean the tattooed area gently and pat it dry with a clean towel. And make sure to apply lotion on dried tattooed skin. We recommend everyone with new tattoo to avoid gym, saunas, spa, swimming or any other warm and moist environment for few weeks for better healing of the tattoo.
Bad tattoo aftercare often leads to infection or problems in healing.
